Bayern Defeat Sevilla To Clinch UEFA Super Cup

Bayern Munich faced off with Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in Budapest to get the final European champion after both teams won one of two European competitions in the 2019-20 season.

Bayern won the match on a 2-1 scoreline in the extra time to claim their second UEFA Super Cup and Sevilla losing their 5th UEFA Super Cup match since the 2006/07 season.

Sevilla gave a hard fight in the match showing that they can attack and defend at the same time all through the match, dragging it into extra-time.

The Europa League winner scored first after David Alaba fouled on Ivan Rakitic in the box to win a penalty for the Spanish side.

The Argentine, Lucas Ocampos, converted the spot-kick sending Neuer the wrong way to make it 1-0 in Budapest.

Leon Goretzka scored to equalize for Bayern after lovely exchange of passes between Lewandowski and Goretzka to draw level in the match with 34 minutes on the clock.

The match stayed at 1-1 till the 104th minutes, Javi Martinez headed in a rebound after Alaba's shot was deflected back by Bounou.

Bayern completes the continental treble after winning the UEFA Champions League and now they add to their European conquest with a European trophy to make it 4 of 4.

Thomas Muller has become the joint-most decorated player in German history after Bayern's UEFA Super Cup final win over Sevilla.

Muller, who also won the World Cup in 2014, has picked up a grand total of 26 trophies at club level, which makes him the joint-most successful player in Germany's history alongside former team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger.
