BBNaija 2021: How Cross Has Struggled With Dyslexia Since C

Big Brother Naija 'Shine Ya Eye' housemate, Cross, has revealed that he is suffering from dyslexia.

This is coming after he had an altercation with Nini, who insulted him by saying he is the dumbest in the house. Nini's words seemed to get to him as he retired into the garden where he cried.

Angel came to console him and he revealed that he has struggled with dyslexia from childhood.

Cross

"I am 31 years old. For most of my life, I've always tried as much as possible to just get by academically because it's not something I'm very good at.

"And I didn't know I was dyslexic until my cousin did research and pointed it out for me. And I started doing research on it then I realized 'f**k it this is me.' It's kind of really sad," Cross said.

He added that he really does not like letting people know of his condition as he had been struggling with it for so long.

Angel

In an attempt to console him, Angel said there is no shame in being dyslexic. Cross, however, disagreed, saying that it is bad because almost everyone is smarter than him. He added that out of 10 people in room 9 and, half of the number would turn out to be smarter than him.

"Cross, some people are smart academically and in real life, not so much. So if you say that nine out of 10 people are smarter than you academically, it doesn't matter," Angel replied.

Dyslexia is a disorder that involves difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but that does not affect general intelligence.

It is present at birth and cannot be prevented or cured, but it can be managed with special instruction and support. Early intervention to address reading problems is important.

Most children with dyslexia can succeed in school with tutoring or a specialized education program.
