BBNaija Reunion: Adekunle Clarifies Controversial Newsletter Drama [Videos]

BBNaija Reunion: Adekunle Clarifies Controversial Newsletter

In the first episode of the BBNaija Level Up Reunion show, former housemate Adekunle found himself at the centre of attention as videos from the show went viral on social media.

The clips featured him addressing the controversy surrounding a newsletter he had published during their South Africa trip.

Recalling the incident, Adekunle had released a newsletter where he claimed that some of his fellow housemates were living fake lives, alleging that their online displays were sponsored by Pepsi.

The statement led to speculations that his words were specifically aimed at Sheggz, who had bought Azul tequila at a club during the South Africa trip.

During the reunion show, host Ebuka questioned Adekunle about his intentions behind the newsletter.

Adekunle responded by stating that he was unaware of the Azul situation as he was not in the same section of the club at the time.

“The beautiful thing is that he was very lowkey, which means that a lot of people didn’t know.

“I didn’t know there was an Azul situation until the next day.

“If we’re going to be very honest with each other, we weren’t in the same section of the club so I didn’t know anything that was going on at the other side and I think I was part of the first set of people to leave the club.

“So when I put out the newsletter and I saw the Azul issue, honestly I was confused because I honestly didn’t know there was an Azul situation.”

Adekunle further expressed his confusion over the Azul issue, emphasizing that he did not directly target anyone in the newsletter.

He revealed that he was taken aback by the resurgence of the newsletter drama almost a year later, adding that Christy O was the only housemate who approached him for clarification.

“I couldn’t make sense of it because I wasn’t talking to anybody directly.

“The issue that I have with the whole newsletter drama is that it happened last year in another country.

“This is almost a year after and it’s coming back again.

“We were all in the same environment, Christy O was the only person that came to me to ask me what’s up with the newsletter.”

However, fellow housemate Bella, who is also Sheggz's love interest, challenged Adekunle’s explanation, suggesting that he had indeed thrown shade at several individuals in his letter.

Looking back, he acknowledged that his words might have seemed directed at certain individuals but reiterated that it was not his intent.

“Out of all this, the one thing that hurts me the most about this newsletter saga is people generally didn’t read it because at the tail end I genuinely put ‘Level 1 I'm proud of you guys, I wish you guys well, Level 2, I can’t wait…

“I’m not afraid of anybody here, If I want to say anything, if I want to use my @, I will use it.

“If I want to sub anybody, I will sub you directly and nothing will happen.

“Looking back, it may have looked like I was coming for people directly but I promise you that wasn’t the intent.”
