Belgium's Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo
Belgium's Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, has announced that Belgium will request clarification from Ukraine regarding the use of Belgian rifles supplied to Kyiv.
The Washington Post recently reported that pro-Ukrainian troops, including the Freedom of Russia Legion and Russian Volunteer Corps, used tactical vehicles initially provided by the United States and Poland and carried rifles manufactured in Belgium and the Czech Republic during a cross-border attack in Russia's Belgorod region.
De Croo stated on Monday that Belgium's defence ministry and intelligence agencies have initiated an investigation and are seeking information to determine the precise details of the situation.
He emphasized that European weapons are delivered to Ukraine under the condition that they are utilized within Ukrainian territory for defensive purposes.
Belgium takes this matter seriously, but the prime minister refrained from commenting on potential consequences if the reports are confirmed.
Similarly, the United States is also examining the possibility of US vehicles and equipment being involved in the cross-border raids in Belgorod.
