The snippet of ‘Moving Fast: Rush’ which Bella Shmurda posted on his social media today became a controversial topic on Twitter.
Some bashed him for promoting females as sexual objects while some hailed him, arguing that females were the ones who sexualized themselves in the first place.
Notable among the comments was one certain Twitter user identified as @alaafinibadan, who compared Shmurda’s art with the late Nigerian actor and playwright, Hubert Ogunde.

But then, can we really compare Shmurda’s art with Ogunde’s knowing that they both had different intentions? While Shmurda is obviously relying on nudity as an instrument for promoting his career, Ogunde probably had selfless reasons for including it.
Hubert Ogunde
Hubert Ogunde was known for writing the story of what happens in society - social, religious, folkloric and political.
His stage performances were aimed at bringing conditional ideas face to face with modern life.
Since Ogunde was a literary giant, he was in a better position to dare to use nudity for informative purposes, unlike Shmurda whose vocabulary blunder made him a trending topic recently.
