Benue APC Condemns Herdsmen Attack On IDP Camp

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter has condemned in strong terms the attack on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Ngban Primary School, Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen. 

This was made known in a statement on Saturday, made available by the state Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to reports, at least 33 people were killed and 45 others injured in the attack, including the District Head of Nyiev. The victims have since been moved to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) Makurdi. 

Also, several property, including cars, motorcycles, houses and harvested agricultural produce were impacted. According to reports, the attack happened on Friday, April 7, 2023, about 9 p.m.

The party offers its condolences to the Nyiev Ngban Community for the attack, which resulted in the loss of lives and property, and encourages the people to take solace in the fact that it was an act of God.

The Party calls on the Governor Samuel Ortom-led Government to live up to expectations in securing the lives and property of the citizens to forestall future occurrence. In the same vein, the party calls on security operatives to take seriously their responsibility of protecting the people and their means of livelihood.

The Party assures the affected Community and Benue people of their resolve in making sure that these killings become a thing of the past by engaging all stakeholders to bring a lasting solution to incessant killings in the State.
