Benue Govt Appeals To Govt To Offer Assistance To Victims Of

As the Federal Government has disclosed plans to compensate victims of officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the government of Benue has also asked that the Federal Government compensate victims of bandits.

This was disclosed by the Special Assistant to Samuel Ortom, the state governor, on Animal Husbandry, Shehu Tambaya.

Tambaya said that victims of bandits could also benefit from assistance from the government, as they had suffered a great deal at the hands of bandits and armed herdsmen.

Some of the victims have lost their farmlands and their homes, causing many to flee and take up residence at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.

He said that assistance from the government would help these people to restart their lives and gain a semblance of their past lives, helping them to settle into normalcy.
