A new policy against illegal collection of revenue and makeshift shops has been enacted by the Benue State Security Council.
The area under the spotlight of the new policy in the state is the Katsina-Ala and some areas in Sankera, as the issue of security in those areas is volatile.
The development was disclosed by the state's Bureau of Internal Affairs and Special Services Permanent Secretary, Uyina Matthew, who advised that all members of the Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) carry identity cards and customised jackets.

In the statement, Matthew also warned against loitering at the Katsina-Ala bridgehead.
The statement read, “All staff of the Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) are required to wear identity cards and customised jackets.
“Security agents are mandated to dismantle all illegal revenue collection points and makeshift shops. In the same vein, loitering at Katsina-Ala bridgehead is prohibited.
“Loading and offloading of vehicles at Takum Junction and Katsina-Ala bridgehead have also been prohibited.”
