Benue: Militia Commander, Gana, Reportedly Killed By Militar

Militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, also known as Gana, has been reported captured and killed, according to the Commander of the Four Special Forces command, Doma local government area, Maude Ali Gadzama.

The confirmation of Gana's death was made to Channels Television on a telephone call, stating that the militia leader was killed in a gun battle with the military on Tuesday.

According to the Governor of Benue State, Gana was captured while in a government convoy conveying repentant militants in Gboko.

Giving an account of the capture and subsequent killing of Gana, the state governor, Samuel Ortom, said that Gana was in the company of 172 other militiamen who had all surrendered before priests, local government officials, and traditional rulers in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area in Benue State.

Gana and the 172 other men were en route to Makurdi, Benue capital when the military intercepted their convoy.

Gana, in 2017, was declared wanted and reported to have killed scores of people and caused destruction to properties to the tune of millions of naira.
