The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has adopted a timeline for the 2022 Local Government Council Elections slated to hold in the state in May 2022.

It was gathered from the Caucus meeting held on Friday at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue People's House, Makurdi, that the initial activity includes, an update of Party membership registers from 12th - 22nd February 2022 at the Ward and Local Government Area levels.

Other activities include, the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from 14th - 25th February 2022.

It was disclosed that nomination forms are free for female aspirants, however, they are required to pay for Expression of Interest forms and other charges.

The last date for the return of completed forms by party aspirants to the State Secretariat shall be February 25, 2022.

Screening of Aspirants shall be 26th - 28th February 2022.

Names of successful aspirants shall be published on March 1, 2022.

Ward Congresses for nomination of Councillorship candidates and 3 Adhoc delegates shall hold on March 3, 2022.

Local Government Area Congresses for the nomination of Chairmanship candidates shall hold on March 6, 2022.

As part of gender inclusion and instead of the 35% affirmation, three women are for the position of Council Chairman and deputy in each of the three Senatorial Districts in the state, adding that three women for the position of Councillor in each of the 23 local government areas of the state.
