The Benue state government have warned residents and perpetrators against illegal and multiple taxations ongoing in the state, noting this is creating a huge burden on taxpayers.
To address the issue, the chairman of Gboko Local Government, Isaac Mtom, on Thursday, visited Gboko's main market, to assure the traders of their concerns.
Mtom while addressing traders admonished them to not pay their taxes to anyone other than the Benue Internal Revenue Service, (BIRS) and staff of the Local Government revenue department, directing that, payment should be made accurately.
In a similar vein, he advised the traders to get to know the task force leader Mr Ipavlumun Akeshi and not to be afraid to contact him when the need arises.
The traders expressed their delight at the chairman's audacious move and pledged to provide him with all the assistance he requires to be successful in curbing the issues of double taxation in Benue state.
