Benue: Woman Impersonates EFCC Staff, Dupes People Of N11m

A Patience Simon Robert was arrested by the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi, Benue State capital for posing as an EFCC officer.

Robert was reported to have defrauded people by promising them jobs at the commission and at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

Her arrest was facilitated by a petition by a victim who was duped of N1.5 million after she had promised to get a job for his children at the commission.

The plaintiff said that Robert also dispossessed his brother of N300,000 after she had promised to secure jobs for his children at the Customs Service.

Upon investigating the matter, it was revealed that Robert had been, on a number of occasions, been arrested for impersonation.

Robert had once been arrested and taken to a Magistrate Court in Niger State after she obtained money under dubious pretext.

A total of N11 million was accrued by Robert from her scam; promising unsuspecting victims of jobs at the EFCC.
