Berger Paints Shares Slumps After CFO Appointment, As Dangot

Nigerian Stock Exchange Price List: The latest Nigerian stock market today brought news of the exchange closing at 8,075 deals on Tuesday, October 6, 2020; higher than the 5,984 deals it closed with on Monday, October 5, 2020, while the volume reached 749.4 million units at the close of the market on Tuesday, higher than the 603.9 million units it closed with on Monday.

The value of trades recorded on Tuesday was NGN9,495 billion, higher than the NGN7,424 billion of Monday.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the All-Share Index reached 28,909.37 index points, higher than the 27,554.49 index points it ended trading with on Monday. The stock market also ended with NGN15,110 trillion equity capitalisation on Tuesday, higher than the NGN14,402 trillion of Monday.

Top Five Gainers

Dangote Cement led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained NGN14.2 kobo to close trading at NGN158.2 kobo per share after opening today's trading with NGN144 per share, this is according to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market data seen by AllNews.

MTN Nigeria was second on the table, as its stock price gained NGN7.7 kobo to close the market with NGN142.7 kobo per share, having started trading today with NGN135 per share.

Presco was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with NGN5.5 kobo gain to move from the opening price of NGN55 per share to NGN60.5 per share. Nigerian Breweries follows, closing the market with a gain of NGN3.5 to end trading with NGN52.3 kobo per share from the opening share price of NGN48.8 kobo per share. Stanbic IBTC was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price rose from NGN40.5 kobo per share to close trading at NGN42.5 kobo per share, after gaining NGN2.

Top Five Losers

On the top of the losers list is Berger Paints, which had begun trading earlier today at NGN6.5 kobo per share, only to drop in price by NGN-0.4 kobo to close at NGN6.1 kobo per share at the end of trading today.

NPMicrofinance Bank was second on the chart after closing at NGN1.25 kobo per share from its opening trade price of NGN1.37 kobo per share; this represents a drop of NGN-0.12 kobo. NEIMETH also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by NGN-0.1 kobo to close trading at NGN1.85 kobo per share, below the NGN1.95 kobo per share it opened with.

Red Star Express also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -1.52% to close trading at NGN3.25 kobo per share, below the NGN3.3 kobo per share it opened with. Wapic completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with NGN0.36 kobo per share, declining by -7.69% from the NGN0.39 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Zenith Bank, which traded a volume of over 135.6 million units worth NGN2.77 billion. UBA was the second most traded stock today with over 112.8 million units worth over NGN768.1 million. First Bank was next on the list, trading 89.9 million units worth NGN544.4 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 56.03 million units traded at a cost of over NGN426.2 million, while GTBank completed the top five list with over 40.06 million units traded today, worth NGN1.22 billion.
