BET Awards 2021: Burna Boy Beats Wizkid To Clinch Best International Act

Burna Boy was among the winners at the 2021 edition of the BET Awards, beating fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid to take home the coveted prize at the ceremony which took place on Sunday.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the 2021 BET Awards was the first international show that had attendees gather together following the COVID-19 pandemic, and it took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The event honours black excellence in music, film, television, and sports.

Grammy Award winner Burna Boy bested Wizkid to win the Best International Act, and while collecting the award, the Anybody crooner brought his mother onto the stage, calling her "the most beautiful woman on earth."

Tennis star Naomi Osaka took home the Sportswoman of the Year while Megan Thee Stallion dominated the show, winning awards for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration for WAP (her song with Cardi B).

Among the highlights of the show was Cardi B revealing her second with husband Offset and Lil Nas X sharing a kiss with his male dancer. Late rapper DMX was also honoured via a special tribute featuring Busta RhymesMethod Man, and Swizz Beatz performing his songs.
