Biafra Activist, Nnamdi Kanu Commends Nigerian Soldiers 'Who Resigned To Join ESN'

Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu has commended some Nigerian soldiers who were said to have recently resigned from the Army to join his Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Kanu, the diaspora-based leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) via his known Facebook page on Friday posited that "people of conscience are waking up to the redeeming gospel we have been preaching for years."

According to Sahara Reporters (SR), at least five soldiers resigned to join ESN.

In a similar vein, on Thursday, Premium Times reported that 127 soldiers resigned from the Nigerian Army.

The exit of the 127 soldiers who have neither attained retirement age nor mandatory years of service, is coming in the middle of security crises in the country.

It is also happening after a larger number of their colleagues quit en masse last July, a development which insiders in the military said was indicative of low morale in the forces.

One of the military sources noted that more soldiers from the South-East, particularly those in the Operation Lafiya Dole Theatre Command, are currently being wooed to resign and join the ESN.

It was reported by SR that some of the soldiers who resigned did so on the grounds that the ESN, being funded by both international and local donors, has better welfare packages for its officers than the Nigerian military.

"Slowly, it is dawning on them that we are not joking. The #Zoo is in one almighty mess," Kanu wrote.

"People of conscience are waking up to the redeeming gospel we have been preaching for years. I commend those that have come over to join us and hope that those left behind will have the courage to join the new upcoming revolution sooner rather than later.
