Biafra: IPOB’s Estranged Deputy Leader, Uche Mefor, Says World Igbo Congress Sponsored Nnamdi Kanu On Campaign Of Horror Going On In Eastern Nigeria

Biafra: IPOB’s Estranged Deputy Leader, Uche Mefor, Says W

Uche Mefor

Uche Mefor, the estranged Deputy-Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Sunday said that the World Igbo Congress (WIC) "sponsored" Nigerian separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu on the violence going on in Eastern Nigeria.

Mefor was reacting to the recent condemnation by the WIC of the reported “shoot-on-sight” order given to Nigerian Army units operating in the southeastern states, ostensibly to check the activities of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

One of the reasons Mefor’s relationship with Kanu hit the rocks was because he disagreed with the Umuahia, Abia State-born pro-Biafra political activist on the modus operandi of the controversial organization.

IPOB is canvassing for the secession of Eastern Nigeria.

Mefor insinuated the WIC cannot completely exonerate itself from the ugly events in Nigeria's South-East region.

"Everyone condemns any shoot-at-sight order against our people but who prepared the ground for the shoot-at-sight?" Mefor wrote on his known Facebook page.

"It is WIC that sponsored Nnamdi Kanu on this self-inflicted and self-destructive campaign of horror, violence and assassination going on now in Biafraland against our people because they failed woefully to do your due diligence before embarking on this avoidable situation.

"Issue of security and protection need serious, painstaking considerations, consultation and collaboration across board and among the stakeholders of the population concerned.

"The Fulani-controlled Nigerian government hate our people so much and giving them the opportunity and impetus to invade, militarize and occupy our land is a stretch of recklessness taken too far.

"I repeat: what is going on is not protection of our people but an ongoing campaign of the destruction of infrastructures and lives in Biafraland and for which its casualties and victims are our people.

"What sort of protection is that which will destroy the land and people such initiative is meant to protect?"
