Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday announced the suspension of IPOB's one-million-man march which had been slated for June 20, 2020, in Washington DC, United States of America (USA), AllNews reports.
The march - for the agitation of Biafra and condemnation of various insecurity challenges in Nigeria - has now been deferred till June, 2021, AllNews understands.
In March, self-exiled Kanu claimed that IPOB had obtained the approval of the American government for the protest.
However, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which has disrupted activities worldwide has forced planners of the Biafra One-Million-Man march to suspend it.

"Our one-million-man march has been postponed until next year; due to the 'impossible' economic, and travel conditions imposed because of COVID-19," Kanu said according to The Biafra Times.
"The leadership of this movement, worldwide - the very highest command of IPOB - has decided to shift it to June of 2021.
"We shall storm Washington DC come June next year; no longer next month as it is not feasible because of COVID-19.
"The social distancing rules and laws forbid us from gathering in such a huge fashion."
Nevertheless, IPOB hopes to recall the 'freedom march' by next year.
