Following the unprecedented cases of tax evaders intercepted by the Executive Chairman, BIRS, Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, in Makurdi, the Chairman has read a riot act to staff to take their job seriously.
The Executive Chairman read the riot act while addressing staff at the service headquarters in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Adzape-Orubibi lamented the persistent illegalities in taxation ochestrated by those who should be partners in progress; BIRS Staff and Consultants.
The Chairman directed that the Area Tax Officer (ATO) Guma and POS operator at the Tyo Mu (Abinsi) monitoring point be queried and suspended.
According to her, impunity from BIRS staff in particular will no longer be tolerated.
Reading the riot act to the directors of the service, the Executive Chairman largely blamed them for the lapses and leakages in revenue collection in the state.
She therefore informed them of her decision to hold them (Directors) responsible for the excesses of the staff under their directorates.
