Bishop David Oyedepo Birthday: 10 Things You Might Not Know

Founder and presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners' Chapel International, David Oyedepo clocks 66 today, Sunday, the 27th day of September 2020. AllNews shares with you ten interesting facts about one of the most powerful preachers in Nigeria.

Prominent individuals like Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and ex-Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki have extended their birthday wishes to the televangelist. The lovely messages are still being sent.

Here are 10 things you need to know about Bishop David Oyedepo:

(1) Bishop Oyedepo was raised in a mixed religious family. His father, Ibrahim, was a Muslim healer.

His mother, Dorcas, was a member of the Holy Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church (C and S), a branch of the Aladura movement in Nigeria.

He was raised by his grandmother in Osogbo, Osun State, South-West Nigeria. His granny introduced him to the virtues of Christian life via early morning prayers which she attended with him.

(2) Oyedepo became "born again" in 1969, through the influence of his teacher, Betty Lasher, who took an interest in him during his high school days.

(3) According to him, he received a mandate from God through an 18-hour vision in May 1981, to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith.

This is the inaugural vision that led to the founding of the Living Faith Church World Wide (LFCWW), first called Liberation Faith Hour Ministries, in 1981.

(4) Oyedepo's Winners Chapel International started in Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria, but moved to Lagos State in July 1989.

At the present time, the headquarters is located in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.

(5) Oyedepo is the wealthiest preacher in Nigeria with a net worth of over US$150 million. He owns four private jets and several buildings, including in London and the USA.

(7) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG,  and the late Benson Idahosa (popularly referred to as the father of Pentecostalism in Nigeria) are some of his mentors.

In fact, Adeboye ordained David and his wife, Florence Abiola Akano (known as Faith Abiola Oyedepo) to become pastors in 1983.

(8) Apart from being a pastor, Oyedepo was also an architect.

(9) His authored books are over 60. Some of which are: 'Not By Power Nor By Might', 'You Shall Not Be Barren', and 'Born To Win'.
