Bitcoin has received a significant upgrade as it rolled out a long-anticipated 'Taproot' code with a focus on enhancing the network's privacy and security.
The new upgrade rolled out over the weekend is expected to improve both privacy and security for complicated transactions through new signatures that make the transactions look like any other exchange and difficult for snoops to recognise when an unusual transfer is taking place
The Taproot upgrade should also change the Bitcoin network's scaling by dropping the existing cryptographic system. It might be trouble-free for the cryptocurrency to handle the demand.
The upgrade went live when the Bitcoin blockchain reached block 709,632 which was mined and replayed by F2Pool.
Hassles for veteran crypto traders are expected to be reduced and newcomers will be better accommodated with this new upgrade.
