Board begins unscheduled inspection of Kano hospitals

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda and his team have commenced unscheduled inspections of all facilities as part of efforts to ensure health workers do their jobs.

A statement by the board's spokeswoman, Samira Suleiman disclosed that this complies with the Head of service directives and civil service rules.

According to the statement, Dr Nagoda said the board has designed the visits which would be carried out by the Commissioner, Kano State Ministry of Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, and all Executive secretaries and Director generals of health agencies in the state. 

He explained that Supervisors will pay unscheduled visits to all zones allocated to them using the Supervision templates to checkmate the facility adding that official buses are ready to convey the officials when necessary.

"They will take over and hand over notes, Theatre lists Servicom telephone numbers and offices, Sanitation, Interview with patients on their satisfaction with the services rendered to them will be part of the assessment.

"It should be noted that the team are vested with the power to take immediate action and issue query where necessary."

The Executive Secretary stated, "Management performance and facility score will be pronounced, action points to be taken swiftly on issues that were discovered making sure that all gaps will be filled."

Dr Nagoda had earlier passed a warning to all health workers on issues regarding the work condition in all the facilities ranging from absenteeism, absconding from duty posts, and nonchalant attitude towards the health care system in the state.
