Bomb Attack: Ugandan Police Charge Pregnant Woman, 14 Others

Ugandan police has charged a pregnant woman and 14 others to court for terrorism over their alleged role in the recent bombing by a rebel group.

Kampala’s Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire said in his statements that fifteen people appeared before a court yesterday on charges of terrorism, aiding, abetting terrorism and belonging to a terrorist group.

The country was hit by a series of bombings in October and November that killed five persons and injured many others.

Ugandan authorities claimed the attacks were spearheaded by a terror group in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with ties to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). The ADF is a militant outfit linked to the Islamic State that has been responsible for many attacks in DRC.

Following the attacks in Uganda last month,  forces were deployed and air strikes launched in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) against the ADF terror group after Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC gave approval to pursue the militants on its soil.

The police spokesman said all the suspects involved in the bombings will remain in custody until January 13 when they will appear in court again.
