Boosting Civil-Military Relationship: Army Commissions Hospi

The Chief of Defence Logistics of the Nigerian Army Major General AS Ibikunle has commissioned a maternity center in Iragbiji, Boripe local government area of Osun State.

This is as a way of giving back to the society and to establish a cordial relationship between the military and civilian.

The commissioning which was held in Iragbiji on Thursday, was attended by Nigerian Army officials, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul Rasheed Ayotunde, eminent sons and daughters of the town and other stakeholders.

Addressing the doctors and nurses at the center, residents of the community, Major General Ibikunle appreciated everyone for coming to identify with the laudable project.

"Despite being far away from home, I maintained a certain level of connection with my roots with my desire to enhance the living standard of my community at the right time.

“Towards this end, The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, mandated me to executive a project as way of giving back to the community, hence the construction of this maternity center here.

“I decided to undertake this project as way of enhancing mother and child care which is expected to reduce infant mortality rate and also as a way of boosting both the primary and secondary care system of Iragbiji.”

Narrating the project timeline, Ibikunle said it commenced in November 2022 and was completed in March 2023.

“The centre has been adequately furnished and equipped with modern health facilities. The center will be handed over to Osun state primary health care development board today."

Representing the Chief Of Army Staff, MT Usman stated that the Nigerian Army has taken deliberate steps towards ensuring that it gives back to the society and the cooperation it enjoys from the people of Osun State are enormous.

He described the project as the military’s Cooperate Social Responsibilities.

“The need to ensure that senior officers of the Nigerian Army are connected to their various communities in other to enhance civil cooperation as well as winning their hearts and minds in support of our operations."

He informed the residents that the Nigerian Army in conjunction with other security agencies are working together to get rid of criminal activities and all forms of insecurities in the state.

He averred that the project commissioned will also contribute to national development and also serve the need of the community in promoting health welfare of the people.

Representing the Former Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Taye Adeyemi, appreciated the Nigerian Army for their involvement in improving the welfare of the residents of Iragbiji community.
