Borno Gov't Confirms Readiness To Reconstruct Gudumbali

The Borno state government has confirmed its readiness to reconstruct Gudumbali, a former stronghold of Boko Haram which was recaptured by Nigerian troops. 

The confirmation was made by the State Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Engr. Mustapha Gubio.

Gubio who visited the town in Guzamala local government area of the state said the government is committed to the reconstruction and resettlement of the town especially with its recapture.

Recall that the Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum had asked the troops to ensure capturing of the town sometimes last month to enable his administration process the resettling of the town. 

The town had been deserted by the people following Boko Haram attack in 2014.

However in 2018, they were resettled but subsequently forced to leave following another Boko Haram attack. 

According to the Commissioner: “We conducted an assessment on the level of destruction in Gulumbali. 

"As the Chairman of the committee has said we are going back to submit the report to the governor so that the reconstruction activity will commence. 

"Thereafter, resettlement activity will follow.”

Gubio further stressed the need for security presence in order to achieve the reconstruction and resettlement of people in the town.
