Borno State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Abubakar Tijjani
The Keke Napep Riders Association in Borno state, has hosted the state's Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Abubakar Tijjani in Gwange one ward of Maiduguri.
The commissioner who was invited by the association for its annual meeting disclosed support packages for the riders by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
While addressing the riders, the commissioner said Zulum had injected N1.5 billon on the Keke Napep riders with the aim of creating job opportunities in the state.
He further called on them to support the continuity of the administration as a move to reciprocate the governor's gesture.
Tijjani also appealed to the riders to be law abiding as they conduct their commercial activities and support the Borno State Traffic Management Agency (BOTMA) in exercising their duties.
He further called on them to cooperate with the agency on the issue of inner light, adding that anyone found without inner lights would be sanctioned.
The commissioner further announced that governor Zulum has pledged a support of one hundred million naira to be distributed to four thousand members of the Keke Napep riders.
The riders who appreciated governor Zulum through the Amalgamated Chairman of Keke Napep Unions, Hon Maikano Mohammed Bundur noted that Zulum had supported them 500 Keke Napeps and 100 Corolla LE at a subsidised rate on loan.
He further appreciated the governor for supporting 1000 members of the unions with fifty million naira each.
He also assured that the Keke Napep Unions will continue to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming 2023 general elections.
