The Borno State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has inaugurated a 7-man media committee to promote professionalism in the state.
The inauguration was presided over by the Chairman of the Borno NUJ, Dauda Iliya on Monday.
The ceremony took place at the NUJ Press Centre in Maiduguri, the state's capital.
Speaking during the event, Iliya said the committee would be chaired by Francis Okoye.
He described Okoye as a seasoned journalist and media practitioner currently working with the Leadership Newspaper.
Other members of the committee included: "Audu Kurama of AFP, Umaru Yakubu Kirawa of News Central TV, Olatunji Omirin of Daily Trust Newspaper, Ngamarju Jarafu of BRTV and Zainab Yetunde Adams of NTA Maiduguri as well as Dahiru Usman Mshelia of Kanem FM."
The Borno NUJ Chairman also urged them to bring their wealth of experience to the table.
"Your appointments is a clear manifestation of your proven track record of service as members of the union and are expected to bring your wealth of experience to rejuvenate the excellent works of the NUJ," he said.
On his part, the chairman of the committee, Okoye, appreciated the leadership of the Borno NUJ for trusting them with the mandate, assuring of delivering on their tasks.
