Borno police confirm abduction of judge, family

The Borno State Police Command, has confirmed the abduction of High Court judge, Justice Haruna Mshelia, along his wife, orderly, and driver in the Biu Local Government Area.

ASP Nahum Daso, the police command's Spokesman, revealed this information to PUNCH Online on Monday. 

"We received a report today from one Sani Audu through the Divisional Officer of Biu that on the 21st of June, 2024, at about 9am, the justice, his wife, orderly, and driver were kidnapped along the Biu-Maiduguri Road, specifically at Jiba town," Daso stated.

According to him, the police have initiated an investigation to track down the terrorists and secure the safe release of the kidnapped individuals. 

"There has not been any contact with the terrorists, however, the police have implemented all security measures to ensure the victims are rescued," Daso assured.

To expedite the rescue efforts, the Borno State Police Commissioner has assigned a Special Investigation team. 

"The team, which includes the State Intelligence Department and other tactical squads, is working in collaboration with other security forces and the DSS to gather forensic evidence that will help track and retrieve the victims," Daso added.
