Borno: Zulum unveils 300-student-capacity ICT centre for LG

Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has unveiled a 300-student-capacity ICT centre for Local Government staff, out-of-school children and adults in Gajiram, Nganzai LGA of the state.

The Gajiram Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre was the first as the Governor targets one for each of the LGAs in the state.

The Governor's media aide, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday said the ICT centre is equipped with internet facilities to enhance training of beneficiaries.

He added that the governor was taken around the facility by the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA), Mohammed Ahmed Kabir Wanori.

While commissioning the centre, Zulum said his administration would liaise with the National Board for Technical Education to ensure proper programme certification.

He said: “We will liaise with the National Board for Technical Education to certify graduates from all our ICT centres in Borno State."

According to Bundi, following the inauguration of the ICT centre, Governor Zulum inspected three projects, including the remodelled General Hospital in Gajiram and Mega High Islamic Colleges in Gajiram and Gajiganna communities, each designed to contain 48 classrooms, offices and other facilities.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the quality of the ongoing work and commended the contractors for complying with the project specifications.

Zulum was accompanied by lawmakers from the region, including the member of the House of Representatives, Bukar Talba, member of the House of Assembly, Sheikh Ali Gajiram, the Chairman Nganzai Local Government Area, Muhammad Badu Mallam Gana, Commissioners among other government officials.
