Borussia Dortmund held to goalless draw in entertaining Bund

Borussia Dortmund missed a chance to go above fellow Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart as they were held to a goalless draw on Friday night.

Following the epic contest, FC Heidenheim prevented Dortmund from climbing up the Bundesliga radar as they finished the match 1 point apiece.

Dortmund had the chance to open the scoring in the 26th minute. They were awarded a penalty but Dortmund's Donyell Malen missed from 12 yards to deny his side the chance to take a 1-0 lead in the contest.

It finished 0-0 with Dortmund now in fourth place after 20 matches while VfB Stuttgart remain in third position (19 matches) even with a game in hand. They have 37 points with a goal difference of 18.

Borussia Dortmund have the same number of points but with a less goal difference of 14. That's why they sit below VfB Stuttgart in fourth position whereas Victor Boniface's Bayer Leverkusen and Harry Kane's Bayern Munich lead the German Bundesliga title race in first and second position respectfully.
