Bowen University Employs Best Graduating Nursing Students

Five best nursing students of the Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State has been offered automatic employment by the institution.

This announcement was made by Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, the Vice Chancellor of the University during the 2nd Nursing Science Induction and award ceremony for the 39 inductees on Thursday.

Prof. Ogunwole while speaking with Journalists said the employment offer was a way to further motivate them and encourage others to do better added that the five nursing students scored 70 percent and above in their professional examinations.

The Vice Chancellor said the university did that to retain its best because of its plan to start post-graduate programme soon as they will be among the first set of students.

Ogunwole also stated that the University would also give the students scholarships for their Masters programme aside the employment offer.

He explained that the offer of employment was also to retain them because a wise institution should do everything possible to retain its best products.

“We will give them scholarships for Master’s and encourage them to go for PhD. It is is not easy to come by PhD in Nursing but that is what Bowen is aiming at.”

The Head of Nursing Department, University of Ibadan, Prisca Adejumo, while urging the inductees to be technologically literate noted that it would help them to be their best in the 21st Century working environment where they would operate.

She enjoined them to upscale their capacity and join others to be problem solvers and proffer solutions to the challenges confronting the world.

"You can not afford not to be combative. You need to collaborate with other professionals", she counselled.

The five nursing students are; Abidat Adeagbo-Mustapha, Adedolapo Adekanbi, Joy Aladegbami, Damilola Erinfolami and Abisola Betiku, who emerged as the best graduating student.
