Below is a look at the 10 movies making their mark in cinemas and how much they have grossed so far since they started showing. 

1. The Batman

Gotham's dark hooded knight takes the number one spot in this week's Nigerian box office rankings and it definitely comes as no surprise.

Thousands of movie enthusiasts have flocked to cinemas to watch the Caped Crusader and from the numbers, it seems they are loving what they see

The movie has made a total of forty-four million, four hundred and thirty-four thousand, six hundred and forty-six naira (N44,434,646).

2. Uncharted

The adventure movie which retained the top spot for two straight weeks has slipped one position to number two.

The Sony movie has earned a total of nine million, three hundred and sixty-three thousand, one hundred and nineteen naira (N9,363,119) in its fourth week in cinemas.

3. The American King

The movie follows a mysterious priestess who arrives in the USA to fulfill a 400-year-old prophecy, which is to choose an American King who will rebuild an ancient African Kingdom.

The movie takes the third spot in the Nigerian box office, raking in two million, seven hundred and thirty-two thousand, three hundred and fifty naira (N2,732,350) in its first week in cinemas.

4. Cake

This quirky rom-com follows the story of Tomiwa, a baker who intends to use his baking skills to win the heart of the woman he loves.

The movie has grossed two million, five hundred and sixty-one thousand, three hundred and fifty naira (N2,561,350) in Nigerian cinemas.

5. Blacklight

Action star Liam Neeson returns as Travis Block, a government operative coming to terms with his shadowy past. When he discovers a plot targeting U.S. citizens, he finds himself in the crosshairs of the FBI director he once helped protect. 

The movie has earned a total of two million, three hundred and sixty thousand, three hundred and sixty naira (N2,360,360) in its third week in theaters.

6. Dinner At My Place

This rom-com centers on a Nigerian-American man planning to propose to his girlfriend while she is having dinner at his place. Things take a turn for the worse when his ex-girlfriend unexpectedly shows up.

Dinner at My Place has managed to make one million, seven hundred and nineteen thousand, nine hundred naira (N1,719,900) only in its third week in cinemas.

7. Marry Me

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez plays superstar Kat Valdez who is about to get married before an audience of her loyal fans.

Seconds before the ceremony, she learns about her fiance's cheating ways and has a meltdown on stage. In a moment of inspired insanity, Kat locks eyes with a total stranger in the crowd and marries him on the spot.

As forces conspire to separate the unlikely newlyweds, they must soon decide if two people from such different worlds can find true love together.

The movie has earned one million, two hundred and sixty thousand, nine hundred and thirty-five naira (N1,260,935) in its fourth week.

8. Scream 5

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, California, a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.

The Paramount movie makes a total of eight hundred and thirty-nine thousand, six hundred and seventy-five naira (N839,675) in its second week in cinemas.

9. Sing 2

Buster Moon and his all-star cast of animal performers prepare to launch a dazzling stage extravaganza in the glittering entertainment capital of the world.

What begins as Buster's dream of big-time success soon becomes an emotional reminder of the power of music to heal even the most broken-hearted.

The Universal movie manages to make a paltry sum of seven hundred and fifty-three thousand, and sixty-one naira (N753, 061).

10. Before Valentine's

This moving romantic comedy mainly revolves around an ensemble cast of characters who are all experiencing the trials of love, all before the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day.

The film manages to scrape a meager seven hundred and forty-nine thousand, five hundred naira (N749,500) in its fourth week in Nigerian cinemas.
