Box Office: 'The Set Up 2' Flops, Makes 'Disastrous Returns'

The Set Up 2 has failed dramatically to pull the numbers in the Nigerian box office for a movie of its size.

The Chinanza Onuzo film failed to inspire confidence and has pulled in a meagre N15 million in its first ten days in cinemas.

Going by the standard Nollywood movies have been setting over the past couple of years, this return is entirely disastrous, to say the least.

Boasting a very enviable cast and more enviable marketing campaign, this is the biggest Nollywood fail in recent times.

For its first three days, the film made N6.51 million. In seven days, the figure moved to N10.57 Million.

10 days later, the film went through a  -31% drop in ticket sales to make just N4.46 million, pushing its overall income to a paltry N15.04 Million.

This is clearly a disappointment in terms of franchise potential.

It is still unclear why the market demand for the movie was subliminally low,  but one of the very early subtle signs seems to be the trailer.

Sources and experts claim The Setup 2 stands out as the weakest, flawed and most sub-standard trailer in the history of Inkblot.

It has also been reported that the trailer video which went online on July 18, 2022, failed to spur any sort of genuine interest from the target audience.

Projections for the final figure for The Set Up 2 revolve around less than N35 million.
