Fatalities from the Coronavirus in Brazil has surpassed 100,000 on Saturday, as the cases continue to see an upward movement, with businesses in the country fully open for activities despite the rising cases.
President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro has consistently diminished the gravity of the pandemic, once calling it a "little flu", a sentiment he shares with US President Donald Trump.
Speaking on the surge in cases in Brazil, a senior member of the Infectious Diseases Society, Jose Davi Urbaez, in Brazil said that resident should be "living in despair", then goes on to say that "Brazil is under collective anesthesia."
He said, “We should be living in despair, because this is a tragedy like a world war. But Brazil is under collective anesthesia."

Health experts in the country fear that the government has taken no decisive steps in stemming the spread of the virus, as the most prioritised item is "reopening" which serves more harm than good to the Brazilian populace.
On Saturday, Brazil's health ministry reported almost 50,000 coronavirus cases, with 905 deaths within a 24-hour period, bringing the total number o infection in Brazil to over 3 million and 100,477 fatalities.
Brazil has lost two health ministers after they came into an impasse with Bolsonaro who maintains that the virus is not as serious as the "hysteria" attached to it.
