Brazilian President Tests Positive For COVID-19 For Third Ti

President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has, once again, tested positive for coronavirus, his office disclosed on Wednesday.

His two-week quarantine will be extended, and his travel plans will be put on hold due to the development, his office stated.

Bolsonaro has been criticised for his handling of the pandemic, as he has often taken the issue with levity, downplaying it to just "a little flu".

Recently, Bolsonaro had said that he was tired of being quarantined and that he would go for a second test even though he felt none of the symptoms associated with the disease, following the test, results returned positive.

In a statement, his office said, “President Jair Bolsonaro’s health continues to improve, under the treatment of the presidential medical team.

“A (new coronavirus) test carried out yesterday on the president came back positive.”

Bolsonaro, 65, has often been seen, prior to his first positive test result, on streets without face masks, shaking hands with supporters and claiming that the country needs to get back into business.

Speaking with supporters on Sunday, Bolsonaro stood at one end of a pool, six-and-a-half-feet-wide, brandishing a box of hydroxychloroquine, a drug that he had always spoken highly of despite a severe lack of proof of its efficacy in the treatment of coronavirus.
