The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed charges against popular Instagram celebrity Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, for allegedly spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event, contravening the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Cubana Chief Priest is set to be arraigned on Wednesday, April 17th, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The charges, filed on April 4 by EFCC's prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), alongside seven other lawyers representing the Commission, include three counts.

Count 1 alleges that on February 13th, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Cubana Chief Priest tampered with N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for two hours, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.

Count 2 accuses him of similar actions in 2020 during a social event in Lagos, while Count 3 alleges similar conduct in January 2024, also in Lagos.

The development comes shortly after the EFCC arraigned controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on similar charges, resulting in a six-month jail term.
