CBN Reacts After Attack On Website Over ENDSARS Protest

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reacted to report that it was attacked by international hacking group, Anonymous, following shutdown of the financial regulator's website. The shutdown had occurred following threat by the group to attack Nigerian government for Police brutality in support of ENDSARS protest.

AllNews had reported that the CBN website was shutdown, after report that Anonymous had taken the website down. Social media handles to Anonymous, had disclosed that it shutdown CBN website. This is after hacking the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

CBN in a statement, denied its website was attacked or shutdown. In the statement seen by AllNews, CBN said it wasn't breached by malicious persons, as its website was secure.  CBN stated, "We wish yo assure the Nigerian public, and indeed all our other stakeholders that the CBN website is adequately protected, and that there is no cause for alarm."

However, an earlier check by AllNews showed that CBN website was shutdown, and not accessible.
