Buhari Condemns Attack On Kastina School Asks Army, Police T

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday asked the Army and Police to rescue the students abducted by Bandits in Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State, as he condemned the bandit attack on the Kastina school.

Condemning the attack in a statement by Garba Shehu his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Buhari asked the school authority to immediately conduct an audit to ascertain the number of missing students.

Buhari further urged wards and parents that went to pick up their children from the school to notify the school authorities and the police force.

Quoting President Buhari's reaction to the bandit attack, the statement by Shehu read in part.“I strongly condemn the cowardly bandits’ attack on innocent children at the Science School, Kankara 

“Our prayers are with the families of the students, the school authorities and the injured,” 

Shehu further revealed that the hideout of the bandits had been located and efforts were ongoing to neutralise the bandits 

"In the latest briefing received by the President from Governor Aminu Bello Masari, with whom he has been in touch, and the Army Chief of Staff, General Tukur Buratai, the military, supported by air power has located the bandits’ enclave at Zango/Paula forest in Kankara and there have been exchange of fire in an ongoing operation. Police said so far, there has not been reported any student casualty.

"The President has directed the reinforcement of security of all schools in line with the safe schools policy of the administration," the statement by Shehu further read.

Bandits had earlier on Saturday kidnapped scores of students during its attack on Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State

AllNews recalls that PDP while reacting to the banditry attack asked President Buhari to immediately end his week-long visit to Daura and attend to pressing security issues.
