President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday congratulated the President of Ghana Akufo-Addo for emerging victorious in his re-election bid.
Buhari who took to his Twitter page to congratulate Akufo-Addo also commended the people of Ghana for ensuring that Ghana's Presidential and parliamentary elections were peaceful.

Further pointing out that the success of the Ghana presidential and parliamentary election was proof that constitutional democracy had come to stay in West Africa, Buhari tweeted: "I congratulate President Akufo-Addo on his re-election for a second term in office. I also commend the people of Ghana on the successful conclusion of the presidential and parliamentary elections - further proof that constitutional democracy has come to stay in West Africa."
Recall that AllNews had earlier reported that Akufo-Addo emerged winner of the Ghana Presidential election.
The result was announced on Wednesday evening by the Chairman of the Ghana Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah.
Akufo-Addo won the poll with 6,730,430 votes, while his opponent trailed with 6,214,889 votes.
Mahama of the National Democratic Party (NDC) had said that he had taken 140 of the available 275 seats in the parliament.
He had also claimed that the people of Ghana were "tired" of the incumbent and were in need of "change".
