President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the gradual ease of lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states by two weeks.
Secretary To The Government Of The Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force On COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, made the announcement during the national briefing on Monday.
According to him, "the level of compliance has been reviewed and a specific directive has been issued to the security agencies to carry out strict enforcement of all measures.
"These include the nationwide curfew from 8.00 pm to 6.00 am; the ban on interstate travels and the wearing of facemasks/coverings in public.
"Let me state categorically, that the exemptions allowed under the phase one are still in place. Particularly, Government remains conscious of the fact that we are in the rainy season and farming activities is critical to food and national security. It should, therefore, not be hindered."
President Buhari had on 27th April 2020 announced the gradual easing on the lockdown effective from Monday, May 4, 2020.
As at the time of filing this report, there are 5959 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, with 1594 patients discharged and 182 deaths.
