Buhari Plans Overhaul Of Security Architecture - NSA Reveals

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno on Tuesday disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has again expressed his dissatisfaction with the worsening state of insecurity in the country.

He said Buhari was, therefore, planning a complete re-engineering of the nation’s security architecture.

Monguno disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the meeting of the National Security Council presided over by the President.

The President, according to the NSA, reaffirmed his last marching orders to the nation’s Security Chiefs that their best efforts in tackling insecurity isn't good enough.

He said since the issues are operational, the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, “is working on something” and will likely give a new direction to the security agencies in the days to come.

Monguno said Buhari observed that Nigerians have lost confidence in the security sector hence he is determined to restore that confidence.

Recall that there has been calls for the sack of the Security Chiefs by the Senate but the Presidency insisted that the decision to appoint or sack Service Chiefs was President Muhammadu Buhari's perogative.
