President Muhammadu Buhari's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has denied reports making rounds that he has been appointed as the manager of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in the Ministry of Petroleum.
A budding news blog had reported that Bashir Ahmad was secretly appointed as DPR Manager by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The report led to a social media confrontation, with a Twitter user named Gbenga Gold Olorunponmi saying he was "utterly ashamed" that Bashir was appointed despite that he is "grossly unqualified for this job.
Dismissing the report as false, Ahmad took to his verified Twitter handle in a string of tweets to state that he’s not a staff of the DPR.
He tweets, “A friend sent me a link to a concocted story from an online news blog that the President has quietly appointed me as a manager of the DPR, a department of Ministry of Petroleum Resources, for those who want to know the truth, the story is 100% FALSE. I am not a staff of the DPR.”

In another post, the presidential aide said, “I don’t even know where DPR office is, the only thing I know (is that) it is in Lagos. That’s all.”
However, responding to the allegation in a tweet on Monday, Ahmad described the report as 100% false. According to him, he is not a staff of the DPR.
