Building Collapse: Kano Shelves Planned Swearing-In Of Commi

The uncompleted three storey building collapsed on Tuesday evening

The Kano State Government has announced the suspension of a planned swearing-in ceremony of commissioners-designate earlier scheduled for Wednesday to mourn the victims of the three-storey building that collapsed on Tuesday evening.

The three storey building was near completion at a GSM Market along Beirut Road in the metropolis when it fell while people were doing business. Many are feared trapped underneath it.

In a statement issued by the commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, the governor, while sympathising with the victims, ordered an intensified rescue operations to get to those trapped in the rubble.

The statement further expressed sadness over the incidence but assured that an investigation to unravel the cause of the collapse would be duly investigated.

The statement also mentioned that government is saddened by recent floods in the state, especially the one witnessed on Monday.
