State-run Ahram Online on Thursday reported that the death toll has risen to four after a four-storey building in Egypt’s Qalyubia province collapsed on Wednesday night.

The report said “two bodies were retrieved in the debris on Wednesday, while two lawyers found alive in the early morning of Thursday in bad condition, died later in hospital.”

Most of the families managed to escape when the collapse started, except for people on the fourth floor who work in a lawyer’s office, the report added.

Civil protection forces in Egypt are searching for the three persons who have gone missing.

The initial investigations revealed that the building was too old and in poor condition.

Two neighboring buildings have been immediately evacuated to protect citizens and facilitate rescue work.
