The Bayero University Kano (BUK) has lost an emeritus professor, Emmanuel Ajayi Olofin, at the age of 80.
Olofin, an indigene of Ijero of Ekiti state died on Tuesday.
He was a lecturer with the BUK Geography Department before his death.
The deceased was an alumnus of university of Ibadan where he obtained an Bsc in geography.
He had his Msc in the same field at the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia before embarking on a PhD journey at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Some of the institutions he lectured include University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Universiti Malaya and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He also won the Commonwealth Scholarship Malaysian Award between 1970-1972 and USAID Grant for Interfaith Dialogue in 1991.
He was also a member of the International Geographical Union and the Malayan Geological Society from 1970 to 1972.
