Bundesliga: Bayern End Winless Run In 4-2 Win Over Wolfsburg

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich ended their three-game winless run in the Bundesliga with a thrilling 4-2 victory over VfL Wolfsburg.

The Bavarians went into the match with club bosses locked in a public spat with keeper Manuel Neuer and three consecutive 1-1 league draws, but they were desperate for a win.

Bayern took only nine minutes to show their intent, with Kingsley Coman scoring two goals in a 10-minute spell in the first half. Thomas Mueller also got on the scoresheet, equalling the all-time club record for an infield player with his 427th Bundesliga game.

However, Bayern took their foot off the gas, allowing Wolfsburg too much space and were punished a minute before the break with a goal from Jakub Kaminski.

Things got worse after the break with Joshua Kimmich being sent off, but Jamal Musiala briefly settled their nerves with a superb solo effort in the 73rd.

Mattias Svanberg cut the deficit once more, but Yann Sommer saved his stoppage-time shot, securing the win for Bayern. The victory moved them up to 40 points, one above second-placed Union Berlin.

Despite some shaky moments, Bayern showed their quality in the first half, with their attacking trio of Coman, Mueller, and Musiala shining. The win is crucial for Bayern's confidence as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16 in nine days.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann will be pleased with his team's performance, but he'll also want to work on their defensive operation before the crucial European match.
