Bundesliga: Bayern Thrash Bochum 3-1 Ahead Of PSG Clash

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich extended their winning streak to three games, their first such run since November, by defeating Bochum 3-0 at home in the Bundesliga.

The victory came ahead of their upcoming Champions League match with Paris Saint-Germain. Despite this, surprise competitors Union Berlin continued to keep pace with Bayern, winning 2-1 against RB Leipzig and closing the gap to just one point.

The first half of the Bayern vs Bochum match was a close affair, with Bochum putting up a strong resistance, but Bayern took the lead when veteran forward Thomas Mueller capitalized on a misplayed back pass from Bochum's Saidy Janko.

Bayern's Leon Goretzka almost doubled the lead just before halftime but missed a header from close range. Kingsley Coman increased the lead to 2-0 in the 64th minute, and former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry secured the win with a penalty goal.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed frustration and said that his team needed to improve before facing PSG despite the win.

Else where Union Berlin fought back from a one-goal deficit to defeat Leipzig 2-1. Benjamin Henrichs gave Leipzig the lead with a long-range strike after 24 minutes, but Union equalized with a stunning volley from Janik Haberer.

Union went on to win a penalty and took the lead after Robin Knoche converted the shot. Leipzig's late equalizer was ruled out for offside, and Union held on for a memorable victory. Union captain Rani Khedira described the win as "surreal" and "hard-fought."
