Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in Sunday's match, securing their third win in a row in the Bundesliga and bringing them closer to the top spot, now only three points away.

Dortmund's win disrupted Leverkusen's five-game winning streak, causing them to fall to ninth place in the league.

Germany's Karim Adeyemi opened the scoring for Dortmund with his first Bundesliga goal, following a well-executed passing move in the 33rd minute.

Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby had previously tested Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel with a strong attempt, but Kobel proved up to the task with a fantastic save.

Kobel was tested once again shortly after halftime, as Diaby and Amine Adli both had opportunities to level the score. However, Kobel's quick reactions ensured Dortmund kept their lead.

In the 53rd minute, Dortmund doubled their lead with an unfortunate own goal from Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba. The Burkina Faso central defender had a difficult evening, nearly scoring another own goal in the 72nd minute.

He tried to clear another cutback from Julian Brandt but instead directed the ball towards the goal. Fortunately for Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong was there to clear the ball off the line.

With this win, Dortmund climbed to fourth place with 34 points, only three points behind Bayern Munich and one point behind third-placed RB Leipzig. Leverkusen is in ninth place with 24 points.

With a Champions League Round of 16 match against Chelsea coming up on February 15th, Dortmund will be looking to continue their winning streak.
