Buni Receives 3,500 Decampees From PDP, NNPP In Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has received over 3,500 decampees from opposition political parties in Damaturu, the state's capital.

The decampees were from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors were received on Thursday by the deputy governor, Idi Barde Gubana to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Damaturu Local Goverment multipurpose room.

Gubana who was delighted by the development said the PDP has lost over 3,500 supporters.

He noted that those who defected to the party would be accorded equal rights with the old members because APC believes in one united Nigeria unlike PDP.

Some notable people in the state who decamped to the APC include Alh. Umar Ali, the Gubernatorial candidate of NNPP; Hajiya Tasallah Mai Jama'a, PDP coordinator Yobe North, as well as Goni Abdullahi Baban Gomna of NNPP from Nguru.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the spokesperson to the deputy governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh.

According to Suleh, the state's APC chairman, Mohammed Gadaka assured the decampees that the party would carry them along in all its activities.

While stressing that the state was an APC state, the chairman urged others willing to decamp to quickly do so.

He further emphasized that no any party can stand the chance to beat APC in elections any time, adding that the state Government is aligning with the hopes and aspirations of the masses across the state.

Gadaka congratulated the new members and advised them to rally round the manifestations, policies and programmes of the present administration.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Goni Abdullahi Baban Gomna and Umar Ali said they took the crucial decision at the right time.

"We decamped because of the Governor Mai Mala's transparent leadership," Gomba stated.
