The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has called on Nigerians to pray for a successful and peaceful transition of power as the country prepares for a change in leadership.
In a goodwill message to the Christian faithful on the occasion of Easter, Governor Buni emphasized the need to internalize the values of love and sacrifice as taught during the period.
He urged Nigerians to use these lessons to promote peace and unity for the prosperity of the country, noting that this is a blessed period when the Christian faithful observe Easter, while their Muslim brothers observe the Ramadan fast.
According to the Governor, it is a great opportunity for Nigerians to come together and pray for the nation's success.
He called on religious and community leaders to preach peace and peaceful coexistence at all times.
"We can only practice our religions and achieve prosperity when we have peace," Buni stated.
He reminded Nigerians that a few years back, it was not safe to attend mosques and churches in Yobe State due to security challenges.
However, the situation has improved significantly, and Nigerians should not take this for granted.
"We should, therefore, guard it jealously and avoid anything that could tamper with peace and security in Yobe State and Nigeria," he advised.
He emphasized that Nigerians should work towards ensuring peaceful coexistence and national development.
