Burkina Faso witnessed protests against militants as police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters at the nation's capital on Saturday.
In response to recent attacks in the country, including one by al Qaeda militants that killed 4 police officers and four civilians, the citizens of the country protested in solidarity.
Today, military police officers launched tear gas to disperse about 100 protesters who were trying to march toward downtown Ouagadougou, the country’s capital. The protesters later mounted barricades and burned tyres as some also vandalised a government building.
Some of the protesters angered their words towards the country’s president calling for his resignation, with claims that since his reign started, terrorists have scattered around the country and the president has found no solution to it.
Also amid the protests, the government had cut mobile internet access across the region which angered many to take to the streets to fight for their rights.
